Society appoints new Director

Cymdeithas Eryri has recently appointed Gareth Clubb as its senior staff member. Mr Clubb currently works as a policy specialist for the Environment Agency and will take up his new post in mid-April. As well as speaking Welsh and English he has a knowledge of a number of foreign languages collected during work overseas. He replaces Alun Pugh, who has been selected by Welsh Labour to contest the Arfon Parliamentary seat in the forthcoming general election.

Mr Clubb said, “I am really looking forward to working for the Society.  This charity has a distinguished record of campaigning and practical improvement work across Snowdonia National Park over a period of more than 40 years.  I know from studying and working in Bangor and Ynys Môn that North Wales has an unrivalled environment and I am delighted to be in a position to help protect its special qualities.”

Mr Pugh added, “I have really enjoyed working for Cymdeithas Eryri. Charities make a huge contribution to Welsh society. Members of the Society and volunteers have worked hard in many Gwynedd communities in and around the National Park to improve the environment.  Arfon, which runs to the summit of Snowdon, has to be one of the most beautiful and culturally interesting of all the UK’s constituencies.”
